The summer heat was starting to become unbearable. He groaned as he stepped achinglingly into this newfound territory. The large, aged brute had pasted the lake and went start for the place where the pack lived. He was still a few miles away, maybe even closer than he thought. The old man was dehydrated, even after the long drink at the lake. He coughed, licking his dry and cracked labrums.
Brindle pelt was sweaty, his rich brown and gray harks were flickered back. How much longer?! He must of missed the alpha somewhere, or alphess. Blinking the sweat from his silvery gold opticals he crashed down on the sandy grass. The gritted dirt itching his pelt. Scarred legs kicked as he dug into the cool dirt beneath. Finally a cool breeze was blowing. Rolling back onto his paws he continued on his way.
Scarred facial turned into a snarl and he snapped at a fly. "Damn flies! Damn them all!" he rasped, which turned into a coughing fit. He shook himself, ragged pelt bristling. Then he saw it, a small puddle. Racing to it he lapped away, only to find it muddy and disgusting. Turning up his noise he spat it out and sat, panting with his tongue between his teeth.

"Are you okay?" Shila asked. The old wolf probably needed help. " Do you need anything?" Shila asked thoughtfully. He would probably brush her off. She sat down across the puddle and waited for his response. She bent down and sniffed the water. It was musky, and muddy. She looked back up at the the old brute. He still hadn't answered her. She thought a minute. Um, Dojo. No, Douj. No, that isn't it either. Doujka. Yeah that was it. Doujka. She waited longer for Doujka to respond.

The sight of a lovely red wolf got his hopes up for finding water. He coughed a raspy dry cough as he rose to his paws, the flies continued to bite at his skins. Doujka growled and snapped at his shoulder, killing the flies in an instant. Scarred facade was disgruntled by a snarl.
"Are you okay?" " Do you need anything?"
Shifting his old creaky shoulders a bit he looked at her. Calm silvery gold opticals had a smile in them, though his facade was blank. "Water would be lovely, dearie," her name was with the wind. He had forgotten it the day he heard it. Shima...Shiva...Shila! Shila was her name. How could he forget such a pretty face? Of course it wasn't as pretty as Mikin's but it was close. Just thinking of his old first love made his heart ache.
"Stupid ol' fart like me didn't take a good enough drink at the lake, any other source of water near by dearie?" he asked licking his chest and shoulders to try and cool down. It wasn't working that much.

Shila though a minute. "I don't think so, but I can bring you to that lake a little fast and have you roll in the mud so those flies won't bite you any more. Shila smiled back and waited for the older wolf's answer. Her short fur perfect for this weather. She had rolled in some mud much earlier this morning. She batted one of the flies that was coming near his ear. It dropped dead.

What, he had to go all the way back to the lake? He could last without a bit of water if he had to go all the way back. The mud thing was a good idea. Snapping at another one of the flies he snarled. "If you can get me back there real fast that would be a help, I think I've been in the entire forest," he rasped chuckling.
Shaking his fur he let out a yawn. His paws twitched and he swiftly turned on his paws. She was going to take him back to the lake, so he started trotting.

"Ah, the faster way is that way." Shila pointed with her muzzle to the right. She waited for him to follow. "I was walking around and I found this way. It is a few paw steps this way, into a clearing and then into some more trees and then to the lake. It isn't even a mile long." Shila waited for his response.
